November 9, the Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California, Riverside held the ceremony of naming of Winston Chung Hall. Participating officials and researchers this was a seed in the research and development from the new energy entrepreneur Winston Chung’s donation to URC.
Afternoon, November 9, the Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California, Riverside held the ceremony of naming of Winston Chung Hall. A large banner written with Winston Chung Hall was hanged in the building in the college. On the tope of the building, Winston Chung Hall characters were engraved. More than 100 guests witnessed the bronze plaque type Winston Chung’s statue unveiling ceremony. The bronze plaque will be permanently embedded in the first floor wall of the building to commemorate the individual donation of the maximum amount ever received in UCR.
UCR President Timothy White said that Winston Chung’s donation made the building of the college with 90,000 square foot to be like a flagship in exploring new energy and she would continuously move forward in the future’s energy field. Davis Former Governor of California said the University of California system is the nation's best research institution, and the seed was spread in new energy research and development from Winston Chung’s donation. As more research and development work of new energy technologies is carried out, the United States and China will produce more employment opportunities.Zhong Zhifan represented his father Winston Chung to attend the naming ceremony. Mr. Zhong as the president of Smart Lion Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Said that the world's population reaches 7 billion and more people will be born; and the solution of alleviating the population pressure is to develop new energy. He quoted his father’s words saying that our dreams will come true if we persist.Guests attending the naming ceremony made a visit to a set of 1.1 MW RE lithium batteries donated by Winston Chung to the college of UCR. This set of new energy power generation system valued at 2.5m USD can save 22,000 USD of electricity fee for the building of the college. In the naming ceremony, the university also announced another donation from Winston Chung: 600,000 USD for six researchers in the college as their research expenditure.
In front of the teaching building of the college, over 100 guests including former governor of California, Davis made a visit to the travel bus, port truck, and taxis which were powered by batteries from Winston Manufacturing Ltd. These vehicles are characterized by zero emissions and zero pollution.
