Kaohsiung and Pingtung launched the green electric bus operation
Cross-strait clean energy cooperation is closer. Feb. 27, Kaohsiung and Pingtung Green Electric Bus Launching Ceremony was held at the gate of the sightseeing area in Chengqing Lake of Taiwanese Kaohsiung. Attendees included Kaohsiung City vice mayor Chen Qiyu, Pingtung County magistrate Cao Qihong, South Taiwan Passenger Transport chairman Guo Ziyi, Kaohsiung Passenger Transport chairman Zhong Jiacun, Huade Power chairman Cai Yizhong and etc. They were together to start the green electric buses in which rare earth lithium-ion batteries from Thunder-sky Winston were used.
Green electric buses lanched in Kaohsiung and Pingtung
South Taiwan Passenger Transport provided a pilot run of electric buses from February 28 to March 2 in Chengqing Lake park. Then, 9 low-floor electric buses were put into run. The bus route starts from Kaohsiung Train Station to Jianguo Road, QiXian Road, Tongmeng Road, Jiangong Road, Chengqing Lake to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, totaling about 23.2 km long. 9 electric buses are expected to run for 120 shifts daily.
Kaohsiung City Government plans Chengqing Lake as a fresh air area to encourage the people to take the electric bus to come there. This area is collocated with the ticket-free admission and other supporting measures. The win-win situation will be created, including environmental conservation, energy saving and carbon reduction, and tourism promotion and other sustainable business models.
Kaohsiung Passenger Transport is the first EV connection team in Taiwan which was founded in 2013. In it, 11 electric buses provide the shuttle service in Zuoying Station - Qishan Station, which is convenient and comfortable; sightseeing buses run in Qishan - Meinong and Qishan - Neimen. The measures promote the development of the tourist industry in Qishan and Meinong and are helpful in implementing the Great Kaohsiung 30-minute Life Circle Plan. In Kaohsiung, passengers were about 400000 in 2013.
At the same time, electric buses begins in Pingtung County, and this electric bus route connects to Linbian Railway Station, Donggang Wharf, Dapeng Bay Scenic Area, and Linbian Solar Power Generation Area. This electric bus route also links to the Taiwan Railway - Pingtung Line, Kenting Expressway, Pingtung County Highway (passenger transport), rest points of Dapeng Bay Scenic Area, and the small pier of Xiao Liuqiu. Electric buses in this route have indicative meanings in energy saving vehicles use, sightseeing spot shaping, environmental protection and reconstruction of area suffering disaster.
Ceremony attendees included Kaohsiung City vice mayor Chen Qiyu, Pingtung County magistrate Cao Qihong, South Taiwan Passenger Transport chairman Guo Ziyi, Kaohsiung traffic head Chen Jinfu, and Huade Power chairman Cai Yizhong and etc. They hoped that Taiwan will have more electric bus routes and even these electric buses can fully replace diesel buses in the future.
In addition, to encourage the people to travel greenly, Dapeng Bay Electric Bus provides the preferential price program from March 1 to August 31, 2014. The preferential price is 10 dollars (the full-course price is 54 dollars). The preferential price is associated with the 9127 Electric Bus Route, including Zhongshan Station, Nanhua Station, Bade Station and so forth.
EV mileage up to 365 kilometers
This batch of green electric buses is ordered from Huade Power Technology by Kaohsiung and Pingtung County. This company is the sole manufacturer for commercial electric buses. Its electric buses have been operated in Xinbei and Hsinchu so on in Taiwan.
At the beginning, Kaohsiung Passenger Transportation Company put forward very harsh requirements on delivery. Electric buses directly ran from Taoyuan Production Base of Huade to Kaohsiung Passenger Transportation Company and on the way they could not be charged. Otherwise, these products would be rejected./p>
Therefore, Huade carried on a strict test. In order to obtain more realistic stimulation conditions, the blessing ceremony was held at the gate of the factory where candles were burned. After this ceremony, all the staff of Huade lined up at the gate and burned firecrackers, praying for a smooth arrival of the products. Electric buses took 7 hours to their destination via National Way 1, National Way 8, National Way 3, and National Way 10 and so forth. The distance was 320.1 Km with total power consumed of 194.647 Kw (71%) (i.e.0.609 Kw per kilometer). The residual power was 27.826 Kw (10%), which could additionally make the electric bus to drive about 45.6 Km.
The trial success shocked the electric vehicle industry of Taiwan and even the world. The mileage of the EV from Huade is more than 2 times the average in the industry. So, for the above-said Electric Bus Route having the running distance of 23.2 kilometers, electric buses from Huade can complete the entire course without any need for charging.
Thunder-sky Winston battery plays an important role
In this batch of green electric buses, the large capacity of rare earth lithium-ion batteries is used from Thunder-sky Winston. After a successful test, Cai Duxiong the boss of Huade sent an email to Winston Chung chairman in Winston Group. In this email, Mr Cai said that, with the efforts of all the staff and the support from rare-earth yttrium lithium batteries as a core key technology from Winston Chung’s company, their first electric bus successfully completed the drive test with a record of 326km in mileage; that the excellent performance of Winston battery was demonstrated, which shocked Taiwan; that his colleagues were very grateful. Mr Cai personally sent the test record to Mr Winston Chung and said, “Thank you for your support. Thanks!"
In fact, Huade has very good relationships with Winston. Mr Cai and Mr Winston Chung have established a closer friendship. All the electric buses in Huade adopt batteries from Thunder-sky Winston.
Mr. Winston Chung is referred to as the "father" of the lithium battery in the industry. He has engaged in battery research for nearly 30 years. The most important characteristic of rare earth lithium-ion batteries he develops is their monomer capacity is large. At present, these batteries have formed serial products from 40 to 10000Ah. They have high safe performance. Under the environment of all kinds of abuse, even under a shooting, they will not explode. The large current charge does not affect the battery life. They have a wide range of working temperatures, for they can work under at about 40 degrees below zero to 85 degree above zero. They have good consistency. These batteries are green, pollution-free and so forth due to the use of special technology i.e. water-based adhesive. Moreover, these rare earth lithium-ion batteries can be recycled.
At present, rare earth lithium-ion batteries are exported to more than 100 countries and regions of the world. 2014’s production orders have been arranged after June.
